PHILADELPHIA - The women's tennis team defeated the Retrievers of UMBC on Saturday to improve their record to 5-2. The Owls lost their first two matches of the season but have won five straight since. Temple took all six singles matches and went 2-1 in doubles competition to win the match 7-0. Last week's Atlantic 10 women's tennis Player of the Week Dina Senkina won both of her matches for the Owls. Elyse Steiner, Christine Clermont and Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova also won their singles and doubles matches. Freshman Josephine Bergman won her first match back from injury 6-2, 6-2. Three of the five wins for the Owls this season have come by a scoreline of 7-0. Temple will travel to West Point, New York next weekend for matches against Army and Buffalo.
