RICHMOND, VA - Junior Cori Gallagher broke Temple's four-game scoreless streak with a goal, but it came too late as Richmond scored two early goals for a 2-1 win. The Owls dropped to 5-10-3 (1-8-1 in the Atlantic 10), while the Spiders improved to 6-10-2 (5-3-1 in A-10). Richmond struck first in the 28th minute as Anne Hazel scored on a well-placed cross from Carrie Holland that was put past TU goalkeeper Kara Williams from close range. Kristen Stalter would provide the insurance goal for the Spiders in the 38th minute on a 20-yard blast that hit the upper-left corner of the net. The Owls would try and mount a comeback late in the second half as Gallagher scored her third goal of the year, connecting on a 30-yard blast in the 68th minute. The Owls did not register another shot on goal in the second half, coming up just short in their efforts. The Spiders outshot the Owls 19 to five. Both teams tallied three shots on goal, respectively. Spiders' goalkeeper Kate Hudson tallied two saves, while Williams recorded one. The Owls end their season at A-10 rival St. Joseph's, this Saturday, at 7 p.m.
