Women's Crew Ends Fall Season With Gold Medals

PHILADELPHIA- After having a packed racing weekend, Temple walked away with hardware in three events. The Owls ended their fall racing season on a positive note after racing at the Frostbite (Saturday) and Bill Braxton Regattas (Sunday). Unlike other races in the fall, this weekend prepared the crew teams for the spring racing distance of 2,000 meters.

On Saturday the Varsity 8 "B" boat won their event. The winning combination was bow Megan Silk, 2- Brynn Moore, 3- Molly Peach, 4- Carolyn Bailey, 5- Allison Stengel, 6- Kendra Dickenson, 7- Andrea Konski, stroke Dana DiPentino , and coxswain Jill Ploof. They then took this boat to win on Sunday in the JV 8 event.

The Lightweight 8 raced to a second place finish on Saturday, and came in 5th on Sunday in the Varsity 8 "b" category. The members of the crew were bow, Kelly McAndrew, 2- Sarah Cadman, 3- Jackie Swan, 4- Danielle Britton, 5- Nicole Wagner, 6- Caitlin Pennington, 7- Katie Hoban, stroke Laura Austin, and coxswain Maureen McDermitt.


 

 

The Varsity 8 boat crossed the line to a 4th place at the Frostbite, and raced to a second place on Sunday at the Bill Braxton. The top eight was comprised of bow Laura Scullin, 2- Jessica Herrman, 3- Amanda Barr, 4- Bailey Chick, 5- Laura Altimari, 6- Mary Webster, 7- Brittnay Sugden, stroke Anne Mikolajewski, and coxswain Jen Azeles.

The freshman/novice boat showed their hard work and won their event at the Bill Braxton Regatta. The winning boat was bow, Stephanie Miceli, 2- Colleen Bianco, 3- Cathy Lane, 4- Rebecca Letizia, 5- Kayla Heston, 6- Nicole Miller, 7- Rebekah Barnes, stroke Suzy Higham, and coxswain Erin Buchanan.

Head Coach Tim Hagan is proud and excited for the spring racing season. Hagan and his team will work hard for the upcoming months to be prepared for the competitiveness of the spring racing season.
