Women's Crew Qualifies Varsity and Novice 8 To Dad Vail Semifinals

PHILADELPHIA - Temple women's crew had two of its shells place secnd in their heats on Friday to qualify for Saturday's semifinals of the 70th dad Vail Regatta. The Owls' Varsity 8, Freshman/Novice 8 join the Owls' lightweight 8 in Saturday's final day of competition. The lightweight 8 did not have to compete as their were not enough boats in that event to need qualifying heats.

The varsity 8, comprised of coxswain Jill Ploof, Anne Mikolajewski (stroke), Laura Altimari (7-seat), Mary Webster (6-seat), Laura Scullin (5-seat), Bailey Chick (4-seat), Kendra Dickinson (3-seat), Jessica Herrman (2-seat), and Amanda Barr (bow), placed second, less than eight seconds behind winner Saint Joseph's. They will row in the semifinals at 10:56 a.m.

The Owls' Novice 8, comprised of coxswain Erin Buchanan, stroke Dana DiPentino, Megan Silk (7-seat), Caitlin Pennington (6-seat), Rebekah Barnes (5-seat), Nicole Miller (4-seat), Kayla Heston (3-seat), Rebecca Letizia (2-seat) and Allison Bates (bow), placed second to Orange Coast 83, nine seconds back. They take the river Saturday for a 7:52 a.m. semifinal race.
 

 

The lightweight 8, comprised of Maureen McDermitt, Laura Austin (stroke), Katie Hoban (7-seat), Danielle Britton (6-seat), Nicole Wagner (5-seat), Meagan Rudge (4-seat), Jacqueline Swan (3-seat), Colleen Bianco (2-seat) and Sarah Cadman (bow), will race at 10:31 a.m..
