Lincoln Financial Field

On August 13, 2003, the Philadelphia Eagles and Temple University announced a 15-year pact for the Owls to play their home football games at Lincoln Financial Field. An average of 24,137 fans per game witnessed the Cherry & White in their inaugural season at the venue, a 21 percent increase from the prior year’s average.

The agreement between Temple and the Eagles is the sixth current partnership between a NFL club and a Division I-A institution to utilize the same stadium for home contests on a full-time basis. Arizona State and the Arizona Cardinals both play their home games at Sun Devil Stadium, Tulane and the New Orleans Saints utilize the Superdome, Minnesota and the Minnesota Vikings share the Metrodome, San Diego State and the San Diego Chargers utilize Qualcomm Stadium and Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Steelers both play at Heinz Field.

The 2006 season will mark the 108th season of collegiate football at Temple University dating back to 1894. During its existence, Temple football has utilized eight stadiums for home games, with three serving as primary residences. Temple Stadium was the Owls’ home from 1928 to 1975 before Veterans Stadium functioned as the Cherry & White’s primary residence from 1976-2002. The Owls have also played home games at Municipal Stadium (JFK), Reading Stadium, Franklin Field, Atlantic City Convention Hall and Hershey Stadium.
