Fran and Ree Dunphy, along with the city's college basketball coaches and their wives, will host the American Cancer Society's Fifth Annual Coaches vs. Cancer BasketBall on Saturday, April 12. The black-tie event at the Park Hyatt at the Bellevue will also feature exclusive items in both live and silent auctions.
The Philadelphia Coaches vs. Cancer group, comprised of Dunphy, Saint Joseph's Phil Martelli, Villanova's Jay Wright, Drexel's Bruiser Flint, La Salle's John Giannini and Penn's Glen Miller, is one of the top fundraising groups in the nation for Coaches vs. Cancer.
The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails and the silent auction. Dinner, the program and live auction begin at 7 p.m. Among the featured items in the live auction is the chance to play against the coaches on the floor of the Palestra; an extravagant limouisine trip to Fashion Week in New York City; and a trip to the 2009 NCAA Final Four.
Former Philadelphia Eagles player and SJU alum Vince Papale will be among this year's honorees.
Tickets are $300 per person, with a 10-person corporate table costing $ 3,500. Advertising and sponsorship opportunities are also available.
