Temple outscored Villanova 13-1 over the final four innings and beat its Philadelphia Big 5 rival, 14-8, in its final non-conference game of the season on Tuesday at the Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth. Temple junior Matt Mongiardini has been named the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced today. Mongiardini threw 7.1 scoreless innings on Saturday, scattering three hits, in a 1-0 win over Dayton. He is the first Owl to win A-10 Pitcher of the Week honors twice in one season since Greg Powell won three weekly awards in 2001. Read More >
Heading to Saint Louis on Thursday for its final Atlantic 10 series of the season, the Temple baseball team is on the brink of making its first trip to the postseason since 2002. The Owls are currently in fifth place, one game ahead of sixth place St. Bonaventure.
