Competed four years with the Temple gymnastics team. Team captain in 1943. During his collegiate career, captured four straight NAAU tumbling crowns along with wins in the 1943 NCAA tumbling championships. Winner of two consecutive all-around and tumbling titles at the 1942 and 1943 Eastern Intercollegiate Championships. One of the nation's outstanding gymnastics coaches. Started the sport at Michigan State University where he began coaching in 1947. Produced some of the nation's top gymnasts who won 48 Big Ten and 188 NCAA Championships. Past President of the National Association of Gymnastics Coaches and member of the executive board. Member of the Gymnastics Hall of Fame.
