A versatile athlete throughout his career, he starred in football and baseball for the Owls. He earned six letters at Temple, three in each sport. He earned numerous awards on the gridiron including first team All-East honors and second team All-American after the 1947 season. He played shortstop with the baseball team, starring both in the field and at bat. He also competed in baseball and football for three years, two with the Boston Yanks and one with the New York Bulldogs. He was used as an offensive halfback by both clubs and also played defensive halfback for the Bulldogs in 1949. He plays for the Temple Alumni Baseball Team, against the Owl Varsity in the Annual Cherry and White Day game and is the oldest participant.
