Mendek finished his Temple career as the Owls' leader in wins, saves, appearances, innings pitched and strikeouts. He is still Temple's leader in wins with 30 (1981-84). He is second in saves (12) and strikeouts (289). He is fifth in appearances (62) and fourth in innings pitched (301.2). Bill had a 10-4 record as a senior with a 2.33 ERA. He was also credited with four saves and 120 strikeouts. He was drafted in the ninth round by the Seattle Mariners. Bill starred for West Catholic High School before enrolling at Temple and earned numerous honors there.
