He earned second team All-American honors in 1978 and was a first team selection by the American Association of College Baseball Coaches. Named Temple's Most Valuable Player in 1978, he holds or shares several Temple records. He had a career .399 batting average and hit over .400 twice (.439 and .432). Helped the Owls earn a berth in the 1977 College World Series. Received the George M. Illman Award in 1978 for outstanding scholarship, athletic performance and leadership. Named the East Coast Conference Most Valuable Player in 1978. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in 1979 but an injury cut his career short.
